Job Description:

Drivers ensure safe and expert delivery of medical supplies to Nursing Home facilities, Hospice, and Homecare agencies, and will ensure safe and expert delivery of lab and medical samples from PruittHealth pharmacies to Diagnostic Services in Norcross Georgia. This includes, but not limited to conducting vehicle inspections before leaving the warehouse, insuring that all credentials (insurance, driver’s license, medical certificate, DOT log book, ect.) required are on person before departing on route, practicing safe driving at all times, providing excellent customer service, communicating delivery issue’s with the corresponding Customer Service Representative, reporting issues with vehicle to supervisor, and turning vehicle in to Ideal Lease of Atlanta for repair. Drivers must complete the DOT logbook in its entirety as per DOT regulations.

Essential Skill/Knowledge Functions:

· Ability to plan, prioritize and complete projects

· Oversee blood and specimen product transportation for assigned locations and ensures accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

· Ensure all med products, samples and other items for shipments are prepared for transport according to established packing procedures.

· Load and unload lab and medical specimens, pharmaceuticals or related supplies and materials.

· Able to operate company-owned vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions, navigating routine hazards of the road.

· Able to work in a fast-paced environment under time constraints without close supervision.

· Maintains accurate records on daily trip log, fuel purchases, vehicle condition, other records as requested.

· Able to utilize tools for efficient driving directions, including MapQuest and/or GPS units.

· Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.

· Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information

· Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times.

· Clearly understand the Bill of Lading and obtain all appropriate signatures

· Keeps supervisor informed of daily activities, and issues.

· Follows all company policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations and charged with reporting violations to the appropriate supervisor.

· Carries out all duties with a “Commitment to Caring” and in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, and philosophy.

· Able to respond to change productively and handle additional projects as assigned.

· Able to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this job (with or without reasonable accommodation) without posing specific or current risk of substantial harm to the health and safety of self and others.

· Abides by all state driving laws, including the mandatory use of seat belts, not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (including prescription drugs that may have warning labels alerting the patient to not drive motor vehicles), and must yield to emergency vehicles.

· Although normal hours will be scheduled, driver displays willingness to work hours outside of normal business hours at the employer’s discretion.

· Driver maintains an accurate DOT logbook that is up to date

Essential Administrative Functions:

1. Participate in center/agency surveys (Licensure / JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.

2. Attend and participate in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current license/certification, as required.

3. Attend and participate in mandatory in-services.

4. Honor patients/residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.

5. Comply with corporate compliance program.

6. Report job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.

7. Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.

8. Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.

9. Perform other related duties as necessary and as directed by supervisor.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

• Valid Driver’s License

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• High School diploma, GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge and skills

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)

• A valid driver’s license and excellent driving history

• Proof of insurance

• 2+ years of experience operating conventional vehicles for business purposes preferred.

• Relevant industry/driving experience is a plus

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

• Familiarity working with and adapting to technology

• Ability to pass initial drug screen

• Physical capability of light to medium lifting (up to 50lbs).
